Japanese Spinach Ohitashi Recipe

Spinach ohitashi「お浸し(オヒタシ)」 is a light and healthy Japanese side dish.

It is made by blanching spinach and seasoning it with a simple soy sauce and dashi mixture.

  • Soy sauce
  • Dashi stock

Instructions

  1. Boil water and blanch the spinach briefly.
  2. Transfer to cold water and drain.
  3. Squeeze out excess water.
  4. Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Season with soy sauce and dashi.

Tips

  • Do not overcook the spinach.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
